Yesterday, I had my hair dyed for the first time. There are now nice red-violet highlights throughout the top. I'll see if I can get a picture up sometime for those curious how it turned out.
if you have dark hair you should bleach it first then dye it.
otherwise you can't see the dye
Well, I wasn't aiming for any dramatic color change at the time. I just wanted to not have white hairs anymore, and I figured, why not make the white hairs some interesting color if I'm going to go to the trouble anyways?
I think you need to try again. I desire photographic evidence for the greater good of the people's amusement.

I gave up on odd colors after the hot pink: fades to strawberry/orange/banana debacle in college.

I tried to dye my hair red once. Instead, most of my hair stayed black and the white hairs (a goodly number, truely) turned hot pink! It was crappy dye though, so it washed out after only a couple days.
