Superfly TBD

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... Jet and I checked out airfares to ICN (Seoul) on United, and damn girl. These fares are not looking good. I may have to resort to alternate airlines after all if I want to pull this off.

Not sure how well this all is going to work out. Hopefully I can add the detours I'd like, but I might not get that luxury. I should check with Euni and see what she's managed to find (or perhaps not find yet).

Keep on truckin'

I'm signing in from Dallas, where I've been kickin' it back (old school) with Bob. Incidentally, I just learned P. Bobo has started his own weblog himself the other day. Check it out.

Today has been a day of rest - our first day with no driving. That's been a welcome break. Tomorrow we head off to St. Louis, so that'll be our longest day yet (or close to it). So I better get some Z's in.

The trip overview is forthcoming. Meanwhile, I will note that I discovered the other day that I was a total idiot regarding my apparent loss of roaming service. It helps to double-check settings on your phone before coming to odd conclusions.

I only got to spend like 10 minutes with Monique, but got a rockin' night on the town in Austin with Terri and her boyfriend Andy (and caught power smoove-rock act Syrup) and some quality dish time with Terri too. I even found a (W/K) shootin' cutie to phone chat with (until both our batteries died!). So this trip has been plenty of fun, not even counting all the crazy shit Jet and I have been talking about. But anyway, that's just to give you a taste... =). Bob's been an excellent host, but now it really is time for me to go (for the moment).

See you in STL or home!

Road Trippin'

Well, I promised an entry after I got my internet connection back. Unfortunately, the details on my recent projects will have to wait until next week, when I get back from my road trip. Amazingly, I got about everything I wanted done, and had a bunch of fun outside of that to boot.

I'm in Chicago now at the Casa de Steve, just finished band practice (sans Ben, our singer) and ate some late-night Popeye's. In another 4 hours or so, I'll need to find my way to O'Hare - still not sure exactly how I'm accomplishing that yet. Then I'm off to rendezvous with Jet in PHX to begin (my portion anyway) of the road trip!

I'll be meeting up with (assuming all goes well) Monique, Terri, Bob H., and Gene - each in their respective cities along the way. I'm fairly psyched about this.

Oh yeah, I got a call from my sis during my drive up to Chi-town and had a good chat. Amongst other things, apparently my parents want me to come out during August for my sister's Korean wedding (for those who don't know, she got married last month in San Francisco - ok, technically in Marin County)... and they'll pay for it! Sweet. Maybe I'll just have to schedule some extended stopovers in Seattle and/or the Bay =).

I tried doing some 4 track digital recording (with an old desktop - I know, crazy eh?) today at practice. I had been recording practices with my laptop (and just using primitive micing), but I wanted to try and get a decent recording this time with semi-isolated tracks. Anyway, didn't have a mixer so this didn't turn out so well. Evan (our bassist) is bringing a Mackie out to the next practice, so I'll see what I can manage next week. I even brought tons of adapters and splitters, in case I'd need to jury rig something. No matter though - I figured this try might not fly.

A quick shout-out to Alicia, who has been giving me great discourse lately - thanks sweets!

Finally, a heads up to you all that a move to MovableType is imminent (minus the Road Trip Time Rift of course) and hopefully, with that move I'll be able to incorporate a few design changes that I think will improve the site. Thanks to Mike K. as ever, for being the shepherd and blog fooking master. He's my saving grace, and the only reason this blog exists.

That's it for now, perhaps I should get some sleep before I have to get my ass out to ORD...

Preparing for Penance (and taking suggestions)

Holy shit. I finally took some time tonight to catch up on everyone's blogs, and damn has there been a flurry of activity. Especially with blog circle colliding.

Well, obviously I was on a bit of a hiatus. Mostly had to do with not having internet access at my place anymore (working on that bit), combined with being distracted and some weird manifestation of perfectionsim (don't ask, i don't really want to try and explain it at the moment). In any case, I'm back.

I'll give the full update in a following entry, but mainly I've been working on 3 projects of late: getting internet service back (procrastinating hard on that one though), shielding/rewiring my guitar, and putting together a new stereo system. Also done a few random things, like helping out at a friend's concession operation down at Six Flags Louisville.

Next week I'm scheduled to fly out and rendezvous with Jet for a cross-country drive, during which we'll hopefully meet up with 4 friends in as many cities. Aw yeah. But meanwhile I've got some stuff to take care of beforehand.

Thanks to all who have been coming to check out my blog - I'm sorry I haven't been updating. I know there are those who've stopped by without commenting (thereby revealing your presence). If you've got something to say, this is a good time to say it. I promise not to be a slutrag...
