Vacation continued:
Flew to NY on the 30th. Audrey had some yummy salmon for me to eat. Audrey got sick (not from the salmon).
Wed: Went to Central Park. Saw the Zoo - Meiqi is fascinated with Polar Bears and penguines. One Polar Bear was doing laps in the pool. Saw Meiqi's Dragon Cave. Got a couple sandwiches at Cosi'; they were quite good. I really like their flatbread. Time Square was too crowded to watch the ball drop. Audrey was still sick.
Thur: Went to Wall Street. Audrey is fascinated with the Bull's balls. Saw Lower Manhattan and Battery Park. Went on the Staten Island Ferry to view Lady Liberty. (Heh, talking about this with a co-worker, his response was, "I've never been inside her.") Turned right around and went back to Manhattan. Bck onshore, we went to the South Street Seaport for food. It was quite good, but the restaurant was a bit chilly. Afterwards was the former site of the WTC. Saw the design for the new towers and the exhibit for the memorial proposals. The one I liked was not selected.
Fri: McDonalds at Time Square. I must say it was the least offensive McDonalds I have eaten at. Saw the huge Toys R Us. It has a ferris wheel inside. I was quite taken with the huge Lego buildings inside - I want a Lego Empire State Building. Saw some of Midtown on the way to the UN building. Children under 5 (or was it 6) were not allowed on the tour (Meiqi is 3). I had some New York style pizza for dinner.
Sat: Saw Bronx Zoo. Maybe it was because it was winter, but it seemed very sparse. Saw Rockafeller Plaza - the Christmas tree and the skate rink. Ate at Kum Gang San. We had some good Kal Bi and Bul Go Ki. We were also serenaded with an interesting mix of what I think was traditional Korean music, as well as what seemed to be renditions of US Soap Opera theme songs and such. Saw Macy's, took a leak in the nastiest restroom I have ever been in. The door was right off the hallway and had a window so you could see inside. The floor was pretty much covered wall to wall in urine.
Sun: Saw more Central Park. Took a carriage ride. Revisited Rockafeller. Saw Grand Central Station. Went to the Pokemon shop where Andy played some games. (heh, he was concerned that Meiqi would play too much). Went to China Town. Ate at Sweet and Tart. Had some awesome food: Sukiyaki beef and Crystal Fried Rice.
Mon: flew back home
Each day started with me watching Noggin with Meiqi and pretty much ended with Meiqi watching Finding Nemo.
Oh yeah, had some Crema Lite as well. It's supposed to be low calorie ice cream, but a news report ran that week which stated they were being investigated on false advertisement charges.
(Pictures on shutterfly, need to finish labeling them)
