Qwest is stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
So, as most of you know (because I mass-emailed a zillion people), my phone number changed last week. I had the second line in our house hooked up. This line has been active for less than a week - and suddenly it just stopped working. You can still (vaguely) hear the dial tone, but the ambient BUZZING noise is so loud that the phone is useless. Some of you may have noticed this! So, sadly, if anyone needs to get a hold of me, they’ll need to do it via email or my old phone number, which thankfully is still functioning (despite the fact that I’m not really supposed to use it.) I called Qwest, and they told me that I will need to pay them at LEAST $85 - just to have the repairman drive out here. That’s just the baseline. Does anyone besides me think this is total bullshit? I don’t have $85 to just fork out whenever I please. I’m PISSED OFF and I’m NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!

I’d agree with that assessment. It’s a very sad, morbidly obese, smiley. Maybe this is part of his sadness, but I suspect really he’s just suicidally depressed at the fact that he sold out and agreed to do one of the lamest, most soul-less spams ever. He has lost his will to live. (I would just kill my little smiley self and get it over with.)
Now, while I understand and appreciate the above ad to be the spam we all deplore, it brings to mind an interesting linguistic issue.
That is, does more open parenthesis make a frowny sadder? It just makes them look fatter. Like they have multiple chins that are so big they sag upside down. It’s just bizarre.
